Biography

Syed Qamar Abbas is Medical Director and Consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Clare Hospice, Essex. Qamar has published original and review, in various Medical journals. His papers included his work on topical opioids, allergy to opioids, ethical issues and spirituality in palliative care. He also reviews papers for international medical journals. Qamar has presented at various national and international conferences on topics of Palliative care. Qamar is appointed University of Cambridge Senior Clinical Tutor. He is also a visiting lecturer for Muhammad Medical College, Pakistan. He is on editorial board of two medical journals. Qamar has organised and taught on many Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of General Practitioners accredited meetings since 2003. Qamar’s special interest is Medical Ethics. He has served on Research Ethics committee and he currently serves on Hospital Clinical Ethics Committee. Qamar also served on APM’s central committee for 2 years and organised 2 national conferences. He currently provides clinical supervision to trainee doctors and chairs Hospice Education and Medicine Management working groups.
