Biography

Claire Oppert currently holds the Aptitude Certificate for the position of Professor of Cello and since 1999 has been teaching at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental Claude Debussy of Saint Germain en Laye. In collaboration with Howard Buten, Oppert hosted and created a " cello workshop" for young people with autism in the Adam Shelton Center in Saint-Denis from 1997 to 2003 before obtaining her University Diploma in Art Therapy at the Faculty of Medicine of Tours in 2011. Since then, Claire Oppert has worked as a music art therapist, practising in the Chronic Pain & Palliative Care Unit of the ‘Hôpital Sainte Perine’ in Paris, directed by Dr. Jean-Marie Gomas. From 2011 to 2015, she also pursued music therapy at the Protected Living Unit in the Korian-Jardins; Alésia EHPAD in Paris, helping people suffering from chronic pain Alzheimer’s. Presently, Oppert hosts art therapy courses in palliative care at the Faculty of Medicine of Lille within the framework of the DU of palliative care at several Universities. As a result of her research into the links between Art and Care, Claire Oppert regularly presents her research at numerous congresses of medicine and art therapy as well as international conferences worldwide. She is France’s reference art therapist in the international relations group of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC).
